Despite a number of Members being unable to attend Round 9 of the DHORC Championship we still had 20 racers running on the double hair pin Sepang circuit. Liam Smith took his first Pole Position in 12 months but was unable to fend off ‘C’ and ‘B’ Final winner Jamie Sismey who fell one hurdle short of the top spot, Nick Sismey taking his second win of the year in the Adult category. Adam Hall beat Pole Position holder Josh Lister to win the Junior category while Matt Bradley won through in the under 10 Cadet class.
Liam Smith came into his own, with Phil Rees missing only his eighth of 437 Club Nights in 21 years, by not only helping set up the large Sepang track but also taking Pole!
The evening results follow
Byron Bruce (right) was introduced to DHORC by colleague Paul Levers (left) and became our 40th Member of 2013. Welcome Byron
Our 39th Member was the returning Ryan Blake, welcome back Ryan
We thought at one point Hollywood had come to DHORC with Peter Martin’s dad Steve Martin running as a Non-Member
We needed more marshals than normal on the multi corner track
Race Control was also busy
With us being a little short in numbers we had to mix up qualifying with both the Juniors and……
…..the seniors qualifying before 2030.
Despite two hairpins, one marshalled by Ken Payne…..
….the other by Geoff Peach, there were no more offs than usual
The cars also had to deal with some fast sweeping bends guarded by Jamie Lymer
After the cars finished the Finals….
…..the Championships’ order was as follows with no major changes
The latest magazine cover shows Jamie Sismey and Ryan Blake presenting me with my 50th birthday cake and card, a nice touch! All members will receive the latest magazine on Monday 25Mar13. It will be uploaded onto the DHORC Web site once it is back up and running
Cheers Nick
